So I took the contract for a high level position at a lowered pay scale, because all the jobs in my field I moved too were through this company. I did my time and was offered the position.
When asked for salary demands by new employer, I of course asked for more than a living minimum wage. Aerotek got involved in the negotiation and said I was being unrealistic and the employer said they were told by aerotek that I would never expect that much. It’s one of the first times I had to go through a recruiter, hope I don’t have too again. They have a stranglehold on available direct hire positions and are most definitely stagnating our wages.
This is pure conjecture but I wouldn’t doubt if they also get a cut for how low you can be hired on at the end. Possibly to help make up how much they are charging employers on you during your contract.
