I was employed through Aerotek for a call center position. It was a financial aid type call center to assist with college students from different schools. The job was VERY DENANDING! You would get graded on so many things during the call. It was RIDICULOUS. I get that...

Horrible, rude and disrespectful

At first it was a great experience I met with a young professional girl. She never got back to me about the job. But you better believe it if it had to do with her commission she would have called me and she would it have liked it if I didn’t call her back. What comes around goes around and I will be calling her manager!

Believe NOTHING They Say

My daughter applied to Aerotek for a Laboratory Technician position. The recruiter called to set up an interview with a representative from the client company. When she arrived, the representative didn’t know my daughter was coming. Apparently, the recruiter didn’t do her job. The company representative interviewed my daughter anyway. My daughter was delighted to hear from the recruiter several days later telling her she got the job! An hour later, the recruiter called her to tell her the company didn’t have the funds in their budget so the offer was rescinded. (Now, if I represented the client company, I would want to question why the recruiter felt free to discuss company financal business with a possible employee.) Needless to say, my daughter was crushed. Imagine her surprise when the VERY NEXT DAY, the very same position was posted on the Aerotek site with an updated date??! She tried to reach the recruiter, but it was almost a week before she called my daughter back. The recruiter said this was a different position in the same department and did she want to interview? She has interviewed again and was told to keep her safety glasses, she would need them. However, it has been almost a month and still radio silence from Aerotek. AND the exact same position has appeared once again on the Aerotek site with the same recruiter’s name associated with it.

Zero response. What was the point in all that wasted energy.

A Pipe Dream

I had a terrible experience with Aerotek here in Omaha, NE. I had a good job but, had safety concerns due to an increase in crimes in the industry. I was easily coaxed and deceived into quitting my job to accept a 6-week temporary position with the promise to find me a permanent position before the temporary assignment ended. Long story short, here I sit a week before Christmas with no work. I call Aerotek and talked to Dean who tells me they don't have anything for me right now, "it's just that time of year." As if you didn't realize it was "that time of year" a few weeks ago when we made the arrangement. Very misleading do not trust these people.

Never trust ANY staffing agency! You are not their client, the companies who pay them to fill openings are their clients.

You are just a number and name in their database. They don't care about you.

Negative Experience

When you are recruiting someone, do not waste their time. I had a phone interview with this company back in March with a lady named Natalie for a position at their NJ office and I must admit that this was one of the most negative interview experiences I've had with any company. She immediately started interrogating me on why I wanted to work at AeroTek. She told me that she believed I want to come to work at Aerotek because my colleague/previous coworker recently started working at the company. Little did she know, I applied to this company about 4 to 5 years prior at an open house held at my college. Believing that I am now more experienced I chose to reapply with the recommendation from my colleague. The phone interview immediately went sideways and I can tell she was not interested in anything I had to say as she basically rushed me off the phone. Fast forward to December, I attended an open house held by Aerotek with an invite from another employee to see how things are at the office and how the work day is orchestrated. During this event I met great people and even friends who were currently working at the office. The environment was relaxed and everyone seemed to be friendly. I did some networking and took as much information as I can from the open house event. Two days later I got an email stating they will like to have me come in for a final interview so I responded with my availability. Another two days went by with no confirmation of this final interview. So, I decided to call the office to see why I was not being contacted to come in for the final interview any longer, only to realize that Natalie had interfered with my process. Instead I received an email stating that after they had a conversation with Natalie they are going to have to move on because it shows that I interviewed with the company before. I found this whole matter very unprofessional, so I emailed back to question the recruiter who emailed me to see if there was some unwritten grace period in which one has to wait before reapplying with the company. Also if after one goes through a negative experience with the senior recruiter named Natalie, it means they cannot be considered for the company any longer? That email went unanswered, so I reached out to my colleague who invited me to the open house and explained the situation at hand. Miraculously, I received a call from the original recruiter who informed me they cannot move on with me, now extending the offer for me to come in for an interview. Long story short, Natalie then calls to confirm the interview with an Account manager and another senior manager. I came in to this interview and had a great conversation and answered every question tossed at me to the best of my ability. Went home and followed up with Natalie with a phone call as instructed, but she was not available so I left her a message. Next morning, I received an email from her stating that they have decided to move on and went with someone more qualified for the position. During the open house there were people chosen to come in for final interview who only had a golf lessons teacher background. But somehow someone like me with an assorted professional background that clearly meets or exceed minimum expectations is not qualified for the position. I cannot help but believe that they already had it in mind that they were not going to extend me an offer. And that calling me in for that interview was just to save themselves due to how unprofessional they were with me post open house. It is almost crazy to believe that I am in someway barred from working at this company because this person who does not know me feels as though I am not good enough to apply to this company. Is it because I am African American? How am i less qualified than a golf teacher who showed up for the open house and made it to the final interview and most likely got hired. Management need to do better at this company if they really want great talent to join and stay at the company.

I was on your side until you played the race card. Good grief, people are rejected for jobs hundreds, perhaps even thousands of times during their lifetime and they come from all races and backgrounds.

You are not going to get every job you go after, I don't care who you are.

Aerotek seems to hire "fresh from college" graduates, so if anything, maybe you were too old for them, if you have already acquired an assorted background. Keep looking.

With Aerotek, experience doesn't seem to be what they are looking for. Why don't you check the employee postings at Glassdoor and see what they have to say about their interview experiences.

@PissedConsumer1405749

What does your opinion on race have to do with this persons experience????? Were you there?

“I was with you until you pulled the race card” like who needed YOU to approve or disapprove his personal opinion on what HE experienced while interacting with this company? People kill me with this “race card” mess. What is that anyway? What does it do?

And if you never knew what it’s like to be in someone’s shoes that aren’t yours, how the heck would you KNOW? You just dismissed this guys whole complaint based on him saying “maybe it’s because I’m African American” without knowing what it’s like to be African American...RUDE! UNFORTUNATELY this is the world WE live in and OUR REAL LIFE EVERY DAY experiences! Do you THINK this is something we LIKE going through?

After we’re “supposed” to be treated equally but anyone with two eyes and a TV can see that’s not true. We have a whole nation and sports association torn because of racial inequality and a SILENT protest...Key word..Silent. So yea, it’s a possibility that way he looked COULD have something to do with it. It’s annoying....speaking from experience!

The FACTS of life for black people in America are that sometimes, and more often than not, we get looked over or mistreated just BECAUSE of something as STUPID as one not liking our skin color or prejudging us because of it. In ADDITION, some will get offended and often threatened if you appear to be smarter or more qualified than them. Sounds preposterous right? There are quite a few folks that still have a old south way of thinking and what’s crazy is, they weren’t even alive back then so why in this day and age is race STILL an issue?

Your comment says a lot about YOU and your ignorance about the history of the country you live in.

What he’s saying wasn’t to offend nor spark a racial debate so why point THAT out and dismiss it as if he just gave a wrong answer on JEOPARDY? Don’t EVER tell someone they’re pulling a “race card” because if there wasn’t a difference in they way races were treated....the dou$hebag term wouldn’t even exist!

Race Card!!! I am sick of people telling others to not state the obvious.

When you live in a society that constructs laws and ideas to treat you less than and to keep you in poverty, will you state the obvious? It is completely ok for others to point out the injustices towards them accept when it hits too close to your own secret ideology and behavior. Don’t ever tell people to not feel victimized. You do not walk in their shoes.

I see caucasians constantly complaining when they visit or live in a place where they are the minority, Japan , Hawaii? Nobody calls it the race card then huh?

THEY SUCK

I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CALLS FROM AEROTEK WITH THE STANDARD "I CAME ACROSS YOUR RESUME .....BLAH BLAH BLAH" YOU CALL THEM BACK, THEY ASK FOR ANOTHER COPY OF YOUR RESUME, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SENT IT NUMEROUS TIMES - WHY ISN'T IT IN THE COMPUTER? THEY HAVE THIS FANTASTIC COMPANY THEY ARE GOING TO SEND IT TO, THEN THEY NEVER CALL YOU BACK. I THINK IT IS ALL A SCAM, THEY REALLY DON'T HAVE A JOB, THEY JUST WANT TO SHOW NUMBERS TO THEIR BOSS. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANYONE EVER GETTING A JOB THROUGH AEROTEK. THEY TAKE SO LONG TO RESPOND AND FOLLOW UP ON EVERYTHING, YOU LOSE THE CHANCE TO EVEN INTERVIEW. I HAVE TALKED TO NUMEROUS IDOTS AT THE MENDOTA HEIGHTS OFFICE AND EDEN PRAIRIE. THEY HAVE WASTED A LOT OF MY TIME. THEY HAVE A HIGH TURNOVER - IT'S THE BAIT AND SWITCH. THEY WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS SOON.

One of the Worst

This place can be described in so many ways, none of them good. My personal experience with them is the third paragraph down. To start, the Google reviews for Aerotek in Pittsburgh, PA are from friends of people who are working there, it's so shady and sad that these young people have to get their friends to write good reviews. If you are an "older person", meaning above 30 or heaven forbid even older OMG! (sarcasm), the employees make fun of those people and have 'friendly bets' on how much they can get away with. Their saying is "If they're desperate enough to come here they're desperate enough to take whatever we say or do to them if they want a job". It's how they amuse themselves through their "boring" job. Very immature, completely unprofessional, totally disrespectful. My personal experience there left me in awe. They were telling me complete lies about a position thinking I was totally unaware of what they were doing. I just so happen knew the company that hired them to find someone for the position and knew everything about the position since I had done it for years for another company. I had no intention on going for that position because I knew the company and it had a very bad reputation, a well deserved reputation. When the girls first mentioned it to me I said "No thank you, that's not the position I applied for anyway". They said ok and we proceeded through all the paper work and test. After I went through all that they both came in again and without even looking at my test began pushing that same job I already said I did not apply to and did not want. To try and keep this as short as possible, it came down to them telling me the only position they had available for me was the one I did not want. Even though the position I actually applied for I had all the experience and more and the job they were INSISTING I take I only had about half of the experience. I wrote an email to Aerotek Corporate explaining all the long details, of course that went just about nowhere but it did get me a phone call at 7:30 am from one of the girls who I had the displeasure of dealing with that day and she left me a nasty voicemail. Again I contacted Aerotek Corporate and told them they needed to listen to the voicemail, they did not want to listen to it, I was not surprised. So I showed Aerotek and their half-witted employees how I am smarter than they are. It's pretty simple to do a little research and find out who the company is that hired Aerotek for a position, you know how these hiring agencies will not tell you who the company is until they get a "yes" from you. The position I ACTUALLY APPLIED FOR I did a little research on and found out who the company was. I went there in person to ask about the position. The company informed me they were under contract with Aerotek and I had to go through them. I explained I did go there and explained quickly how that went. The head of Human Resources of the company took me in, reviewed my resume, asked me a bunch of questions, called in the Manager who was in charge of that available position, they both interviewed me on the spot. They gave me the job, IN WRITING, right then and there but said they just had to wait another 2 weeks to bring me in because it would go against the contract they had with Aerotek but that contract ended in 2 weeks. They brought me in a week early under a different job title so I could train on how they do things. I also got the pleasure of reading the email this company sent to Aerotek in Pittsburgh and Aerotek Corporate since the company contacted these girls at Aerotek, one was the Supervisor and the other was an interviewer, asking if they had come across ANYONE with the skills and experience they needed for this position and both girls told them no. The company followed up on the email letting them know I came in, in person, because of the treatment I received at Aerotek and they not only lied to me saying the position was no longer available but also lied to them, the company who hired them and I now work for, about finding someone. It was sweet. Not sure if both those girls got fired or not, I like to think they were. If not, at least their lies and games got them in hot water with my company and a bad name on how they do things. My company still refuses to use Aerotek, they went with another hiring agency and I was able to get two people I knew personally who needed jobs in positions with this company through this other hiring agency. Sometimes, no often, things work out and people like those two girls at Aerotek get shown experience and intelligence beats youth every time.

Interview

Was called in passed all the test, interview with the perspective company they made indicated they wanted me as an employee, then a background check was run and cleared. The recruiter is playing games, not sure if this was for her to gain personal information, but there were a lot of RED FLAGS here. I will be meeting with management because having people's personal information and not returning calls does not sound like a legitimate place to work. I was told paperwork was not there when it was, there is a lot more to this story but putting it in writing might give the recruiter a way out.

Never got the hours I was told I would get

Left a job at 50 plus hours a week for Aerotek. Grace is totally clueless. She told me the job was for 12 hours a day at 7 days a week for 2 months. That would be $1,000.00 a week after taxes. That equals $8,000.00 for 2 months. She asked me to leave my company early and start training. Mistake. In seven weeks I saw 2 weekly paychecks of over 50 hours per week. For 5 weeks I was lucky to see 22 hours a week. My last week (when I told them to shove it) I worked 11.50 hours. I lost around $6,000.00 because of them. I got behind on bills, have collection agency on my butt, had to sell my truck, late on rent and could not get anything for my kids an their birthdays. I would have been debt free with 3 paychecks and not have to sell my truck. Thank you so very much Aerotek. You are the worst temp agency I have ever worked for.

Shadey Headhunter Misled and Beguiled.

I received a call from an Aerotech headhunter for a great opportunity to work for a "new up-and-coming company". It sounded like a perfect fit. My skill set seemed a perfect match. After a few months in, I sadly learned that the headhunter was just as shadey as the sleezey business in which i was placed. I left a good, stable job for a lowdown, unethical company operating in a fashion that would make Trump do double back flips in ecstasy. The aformentioned headhunter offered zero transparancy and took full advantage of my naiveté in recruiting tactics. I was duped into accepting this "fabulous new job opportunity". I did conduct a little research prior to putting myself in this position - but I would have benefited from this post I'm posting today! Don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of by the sleezey, shadey people calling you with Great - New - Opportunities. They're selling you a Bill Of Goods and you should be vigilant.

Yep, I have heard this complaint about them again and again. It is time people took action.

Contact the Labor Board, the BBB, the Consumer Protection Division of your state's Attorney General's office.

You could even contact a consumer investigative reporter with your local news station and they will investigate and air the story on tv and online. Be sure to write a review on glassdoor, so as to warn potential job seekers.
