I got a job for a company after speaking with the company directly, but they still needed to hire me through a temp agency, and they chose Aerotek. I went in to fill out the proper paperwork, and thankfully kept my copies, then went on to work. I was told I would start...

Aerotek blew my job opportunity

I applied for a Aerotek job. They called me told me about the job and said I could apply. They didn't send my resume, but said I would have to undergo prescreening by one of their recruiters. Missed a call, called them immediately back many times and couldn't reach the recruiter. This happened once more and another Aerotek person assured me that I could still be prescreened for the position and that never happened. When Aerotek first contacted me another agency called me about 1/2 hour later and was going to submit my resume. When I registered with this other agency, I even interviewed with them and they would have definitely submitted my resume to the client company. *** me, I should have called Aerotek back and say no thanks because I would gotten a lot better of a chance of getting the job if I had went with the other agency and not Aerotek. All I got to say is how unprofessional.

For all you people, I would like to share with you all a process compliance catalyst TrimOrg that has helped establish metrics and standards maintenance in recruitment consulting. For the good of consulting companies and temp hires, do get the benefits of TRIM. Good luck.

I was told by an Aerotek employee in San Antonio, Jose Luis Gomez, that it would take 4 to 6 weeks before being notified if I'm hired or not, for a manufacturing position. I called Toyota's HR department, and I was informed that it can take up to 6 months.

When I called Gomez, he comes across as if he's irritated over the phone; simply said, he doesn't want to talk, or at least not with me.

He just repeats himself over and over, "How can I direct your call, how can I direct your call, how can I direct you call", in an agitated tone of voice. It leads me to believe that this is how they (Aerotek employees) justify earning a living...doing nothing that they say they're going to do.

Aerotek - not worth the time or hassle

Aerotek opened a new office in Davenport, IA recently around July 2011. Many online job postings are now handled by them. After applying online for a supposed warehouse position through them, I was offered an assembly line position working in poor conditions with an unfavorable work schedule. I reluctantly accepted. After a few weeks of unsuccessful follow-up attempts, an Aerotek hiring manager contacted me and told me they would find me something better - even though I didn't turn down their offer. After applying for some other Aerotek jobs, a recruiter called me and offered the same assembly line job - but he didn't know that I had already applied for it. Again, I accepted, and made a trip to their office to have an interview and fill out paperwork. I cringed at the level of unprofessional behavior I witnessed as the recruiter and others joked about job applicants and acted like a bunch of children. Later in the week, they congratulated me and told me that I had the job, contingent upon a drug screen and background check (requiring yet another few trips). The next week, they offered a completely unrelated position in which they lost an employee due to failing a drug test. I was promised a 4 month temp-to-perm contract position, but the recruiter insisted that I start the very next day without signing any contract. He also showed no regard for my prior arrangements (car repair, etc.). Again, I reluctantly accepted. I had just read countless negative reviews of Aerotek online, while searching for information about the company. So I wasn't feeling too good about them. After taking precautions and asking the recruiter for a copy of the job details in writing (job description, pay, scheduled, etc), he became wary and told me that he probably wasn't authorized to do so. Taking a leap of faith, I arrived at the job site a few minutes early as instructed by my recruiter. My supervisor never showed up. I called him and he said he would be there soon. After 45 minutes of waiting, I left and went home. I'm disgusted with all the run-around from Aerotek and now I see why so many others are, too. It's amazing how nasty the recruiter and hiring manager became when I made the decision to finally ignore them. They called about 20 times throughout the morning and left numerous voicemails. Sorry Aerotek, you had your chance - I'm moving onward.

It is a bad thing when these staffing agencies screw with us this way! I would only insist on checking the reviews of such agencies before we join them. TrimOrg for example is an apt place where employees, agencies and Companies can check the scores of these staffing agencies so that those who work and those who pay them will not be fooled in the process.

Maybe if you knew how to spell you'd get a job. On second thought, learning to spell wouldn't help because your attitude will prevent you from getting, or keeping a good job

I worked for Aerotek from Knoxville, TN. They were very good to me.

I always got paid on time. The only odd thing was the 1st recruter I had left all of a sudden, then the 2nd one left all of a sudden.

Maybe the problem is who Aerotek hires to hire people. :?

I got a job through aerotek. i had no problems interviewing and i was hired on by one of the companies aerotek represents.

The problems started when i received my first paycheck.

They were paying me less than what i had agreed upon. I brought this to the attention of my recruiter and the company i was working with. Even though they all knew what was going on it took them an entire month to fix my rate issue. At that point i wasn't paid any of the back pay that i had missed out on (it was several hundred dollars).

I should have quit then but i figured it was just an innocent mistake. Now i stopped receiving a paycheck all together, i've called aerotek non-stop and they told me they were working on it. I worked for 3 weeks without pay and then let the company i was contracted with know that i could no longer work there because of nonpayment. (they notified me that all of my hours had been reported to aerotek as usual) It took Aerotek an entire month to "re-cut" one check as they put it, they then blamed all of my pay problems on the US mail.

I'm still waiting on the rest of my pay and now i have an open case with the colorado department of labor. If you want to be paid for the work you do, steer clear of Aerotek.

I went to Aerotek in Denver to apply for a job several weeks ago. The Aerotek recruiter said I would be perfect for the job opening and sent me to an interview where upon completion of the interview the HR person said I was "hired." Aerotek had me come in to complete the paperwork for the job and then said I would start on a specific date and the recruiter wold call me back with the time to report and where.

The recruiter never called me back! I called the Aerotek recruiter dozens of times but the recruiter never answered her phone nor returned my calls. I went to Aerotek Denver's office twice and was told the recruiter was not in the office at the time though I saw her there myself! She was hiding from me!

The receptionist then told me I had not pay some fees for employment to Aerotek. I told her there are no fees! Aerotek said they do not charge fees!

Aerotek has never returned my calls or told me what is going on.

Is this some employment scam? Is Aerotek trying to extort money from me?

Just to clarify, my commission comes from my company billing the client for my work based on good candidates that I find to interview with them. In no way does the contractor pay for being recruited by me.

So think about that before you start complaining about me trying to find you a job at no expense to you. Also, I’m expected to interview 15+ people over the phone a day to gage whether or not I think your qualified and have a good attitude. That means I talk to 75+ different people a week. If you weren’t followed up with that probably means you did not present yourself very well.

Either over stating your qualifications or were not professional during the phone interview (just in case you didn’t understand it’s what a recruiter is doing when they first contact you).

During a 50 hour week that’s as busy as mine, following up with someone who I clearly do not want to work with is the last thing on my to-do list. Think about it before you start bashing a company calling you in regards to a job opportunity at no expense to you.
